AppointmentsEach week you will receive an email with a link to our Availability Form (below). On the form you can tick the dates you are available (usually over the next 4-6 weeks) and the form will then display all uncovered fixtures on those dates.
Once you have selected the fixtures you can officiate on and submitted the form I will receive the information in an email and make appointments accordingly. |
When do I hear back?I generally respond as soon as I have acted upon your email (1-2 hours) but with all of my other commitments, you may have to wait up to 24 hours (this is very unlikely). You should also receive an email notification from Full-Time with full details of your appointments.
I understand that there will be times when you need to know sooner rather than later of your appointments. In such cases please drop me an email, WhatsApp message or text and I will prioritise getting back to you. However, as a general rule it would help if you are patient so I don’t get overloaded with messages! |
What happens after I’m appointed?
The home club will contact you no later than the Wednesday before the game to confirm the venue, kick-off time and hospitality arrangements. If you have not heard from them by the Thursday morning please let me know and I will follow up.
Some will also send you their team sheet, but the requirement is that they provide you a team sheet not less than 20 minutes prior to kick-off. If you wish to contact a club directly, you will find their details in the League Directory via the button below |
What are the key rules? All Arthurian League matches (including the Junior League Cup, David Woolcott Trophy, Derrick Moore Veterans Cup and Plate, but NOT including the Arthur Dunn Cup – which is a separate competition) allow repeat subtitutions (3-from-3 for open aged matches and 5-from-5 in veterans matches). Cup ties can go to extra-time (at your discretion and sometimes affected by time slots) and penalty shoot-outs where required. League rules do NOT permit club assistant referees.
In the Arthur Dunn Cup repeat substitutions are not permitted. |
What is the fee?The match fee for 2023-2024 is £45, payable by the home team. Personally, I would like to be able to offer a higher amount but it is fixed by the Amateur Football Alliance (our county FA) and we are not permitted to offer above this amount. If I do so and am found out, I risk being charged by the FA and potentially being suspended from football.
Where agreed prior the game, reasonable travel expenses can be claimed. This is generally agreed where a referee travels beyond their local area to a game and must always be discussed with me beforehand. |
What happens after the game? You can report the match in either of two ways:

Man of the Match
At the suggestion of referee Alan Greenberg the League intends to award a Player of the Year award at the end of season dinner in May. To that end - where possible - we would appreciate it if you could make nominate a Man of the Match for each match you officiate. This is not mandatory, but if you are able to contribute to this initiative it would be much appreciated. On both the RefSec and website reporting forms you will see a box which allows you to enter a Man of the Match.
Thank you in advance for your help with this.
Thank you in advance for your help with this.
I hope this is helpful and that you are all enjoying your experience with the League so far. I hope to meet as many of you as I can during the course of the season and, if not, at the League Dinner next May.
