Due to an extremely harsh winter two entire months were lost from the season forcing the abandonment of the competition in its first season. The AFA Record reported this in its issue of April 1963 as follows:
The Arthurian League table, which will be found elsewhere in this issue, represents the position when, with great reluctance, it was decided to abandon the Competition in its inaugural season. The decision was unfortunate albeit justifiable coming as it did at a time when a real fight had developed for the leadership. All clubs connected with the League will look forward with keen interest to a renewal of hostilities next season. Enough has been seen already to justify the hopes of those who sponsored the venture. It has proved a big success but the weather must always remain the deciding factor and eight weeks of foul conditions undid all the good work that had been put in.
